After collecting the results from the survey I carried out
it has become apparent that the majority of the target audience for the college
magazine will be female and 35% will be male. The survey questioned if they
read the college magazine and the results showed that 95% don’t and only 5%
actually do. This shows that the product is not working well and needs
improving drastically so it attracts the target audience. The top colours as
chosen by the target audience in the survey to be used on the college magazine
were blue, black and white. These colours will be used on the magazine so it
appeals to the target audience as well as red, green and yellow to an extent as
they received a fair amount of votes in the survey as well. It is clear that
the college magazine will only cost little money as 85% of the people asked
voted for nothing or 50p as the price. 50p is more likely to be used as more
profits can be made and it makes the magazine look more worthy. 70% of the
target audience voted for the magazine to be issued monthly or every half term
so that is when it will be issued for them. 50% of people asked voted that they
wanted informal language to be used throughout the magazine and 40% asked for
the language to be mixed. From this the magazine will use a mixture so it
appeals to a larger audience. The target audience revealed in this survey that
the subjects they would like to be covered mostly in the college magazine are
music, college trips, free gifts, sport, TV and films. The magazine will use
these as headlines on the magazine so the target audience is attracted. 40% of the people asked in this survey
requested for a student to be the cover photo on the magazine, 30% voted for a
celebrity and 30% voted for a picture of nature to be used. The magazine will
likely use a picture of a student on the front cover as this is what more of
the target audience requested but a celebrity or nature picture could work as
well. 100% of the people asked in this survey wanted a page for jobs, so this
will definitely be in the college magazine.
